Lindsey Stirling (2013)

Guest Artist

Lindsey Stirling is a violinist with a twist in performing who has captured the attention of audiences on YouTube and around the world. A classically trained violinist, she has created a stage presence that combines the melodic sounds of the violin with the dynamic energy of hip-hop—while dancing.

Performing with the Choir at the annual Pioneer Day concert in 2013, Lindsey is a pioneer herself as the first hip-hop artist to ever perform in the Conference Center with the Choir.

In 2010, Stirling was a quarter finalist on America's Got Talent, where she gained national television exposure and gained legions of loyal fans. Shortly after the show, her YouTube channel grew in popularity and has half a billion total views and over 4 million subscribers. She has released a self-titled album and has toured North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Stirling served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New York City, and credits the experience as helping her develop social skills that have assisted her in her music career. She said, "I have a full testimony that when we stay true to obeying the commandments, and keeping those things first in our lives, that we are entitled to blessings…I feel my mission was preparatory for my mission in life. It prepared me to do what I’m now doing and use it in a small way to try to bring light to people in whatever way they want to accept it. I will be forever grateful that I got to serve a mission."
