  • At the Opening Ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Utah Symphony joined with Sting and cellist Yo-Yo Ma in a performance of Sting’s 1987 song “Fragile.”

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, better known by his stage name of Sting, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. Before launching his solo career, he was the principal songwriter, lead singer and bassist for the band The Police. He has received 16 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and four nominations for the Academy Awards for Best Original Song. He has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2003, Sting received a CBE from Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for services to music, and was made a Kennedy Center Honoree at the White House in 2014. He was awarded the Polar Music Prize in 2017.
