The Tabernacle Choir Blog

This Happened in 2015

2015 was a landmark year for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir—it was a year so jam-packed with firsts and highlights that it was hard to keep up with it all. Because the Choir dates back to 1847, you might think they have seen it all. Surprisingly, they haven't—and that’s what makes life with America’s Choir so interesting.

Here are some of the highlights of 2015:

The Choir Films a Music Video in a Men’s Prison

Until this video for "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly," you would have never mentioned the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and prison in the same sentence, but the setting makes for perfect backdrop for a redemption story.

While we’re on the subject of tour, the Choir embarked on an East Coast tour like no other in the summer of 2015. The East Coast swing included stops in Boston, Massachusetts, and Bethesda, Maryland, as well as stops in New York in places such as Bethel Woods (the site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival), Saratoga Springs, Carnegie Hall, and Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. This tour marked the first time the Choir has performed at Yankee Stadium.

His first and second performances took place during Pioneer Day and Christmas concerts. The Christmas concert is available on CD, DVD, and digital and features The Muppets® from Sesame Street®.
