Alex Boyé Completes Musical Journey with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Alex Boyé completed his service with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Sunday, May 18, 2014. During his time with the Choir, Boyé was featured as a soloist for songs such as “I Want Jesus to Walk With Me,” “Goin’ Home,” and “Rock-a My Soul in the Bosom of Abraham.”
Boyé’s own musical career has been gaining momentum with a series YouTube videos featuring what he refers to as “Africanized” pop music. The songs are mostly covers of current popular songs with a fresh, new twist. His latest videos are “Roar,” by Katy Perry, “Happy,” by Pharell Williams and “Let It Go,” from the hit movie Frozen. The latter two videos also featured the One Voice Children’s Choir. His YouTube star first began to rise when he joined forces with The Piano Guys for “Peponi,” which is a cover of Coldplay’s “Paradise.” The video has been viewed over 26 million times.
While his service in the Choir has come to an official end, Boyé may still appear with the Choir in future for special performances or events.
