Choir Launches Summer Season At Home

Back from touring the heartland of America with rave reviews in each of the six cities, the Choir is on the move again.  But this time, just across the street. Every summer with tourists pouring into Salt Lake City, the Choir switches to the Conference Center on North Temple to accommodate visitors.  Both Thursday evening rehearsals and Music & the Spoken Wordbroadcasts are held in the Conference Center until Labor Day.

In addition, Tabernacle organists present organ recitals Monday through Saturday at 12:00 noon in the Tabernacle on Temple Square and at 2:00 p.m. in the Conference Center.  A Sunday recital is at 2:00 p.m. in the Tabernacle.

Another popular summer event is the annual Pioneer Day concert on July 19 and 20 in the Conference Center featuring guest artists Lindsey Stirling and Nathan Pacheco.  This program pays tribute to those who have gone before showing others the way to follow.  It’s fitting that the program features two talented and engaging young artists. Stirling is a violinist with a hip-hop/classical repertoire who has charmed audiences from YouTube to recent worldwide tours; Pacheco is a tenor/ songwriter with international as well as an American presence. Not surprising, this event, directed by Mack Wilberg, is already sold out but--stand-by seating often means a seat. The stand-by line forms at the north gate on Temple Square at 6:00 p.m. both nights. Overflow seating will be available in the Tabernacle.
