Deborah Voigt and John Rhys-Davies to Join Choir for Christmas

It has become a tradition.  The Choir announces the guest artists for the eagerly anticipated Christmas concerts on a local KSL radio program with much-revered, talk-show personality, Doug Wright.   Joining the Choir and Orchestra on stage this year will be one of the world’s most sought-after sopranos, Deborah Voigt and celebrated British actor John Rhys-Davies.  The Christmas concerts are scheduled for December 12-15 in the Conference Center in Salt Lake.

This year’s announcement came with a twist.  Mack Wilberg was with Voigt in New York and the two connected with choir president Ron Jarrett at the radio station for the announcement.  Jarrett promised the upcoming concert would be “unforgettable” praising the talents and stage presence of both Deborah Voigt and John Rhys-Davies adding, “They will fill our hearts with the Christmas spirit.”

Both artists come with stunning credentials. Deborah Voigt is recognized as a leading dramatic soprano whose performances of operas of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss have earned high acclaim.  She is well known as well for the music of Broadway and Americana. John Rhys-Davies is known to film audiences for his roles as the dwarf Gimli inThe Lord of the Rings trilogy and the charismatic Arab excavator Sallah in the Indiana Jones film series.
