James Taylor Offers Free Guitar Lessons
In a career marked by artistic triumphs, the past few years for James Taylor have been notable for both creative virtuosity and recognition of exceptional achievement. In 2012 he was awarded the distinguished Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government and in 2011 he was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama. He has also been inducted into both the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Recently, he added another achievement to his musical resume: Guitar Teacher.
Taylor has released a series of free guitar lessons on his website in the form of YouTube videos. In total, there are 7 guitar lessons and 2 videos of bonus material. All sessions were produced and demonstrated by Taylor in his barn studio in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. The lessons feature unique guitar camera angles which show guitar students Taylor’s personal technique. To date, the free guitar lessons on James Taylor’s website have had more than 600,000 views. The most popular lessons include Taylor’s personal instruction of his songs “Carolina in My Mind” and “Fire and Rain”.
