Tabernacle Organist: Linda Margetts
Since 1984, Linda Margetts has been an organist for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in organ performance from Brigham Young University and her PhD in music composition from the University of Utah. She is also an organ professor at the University of Utah School of Music.
Margetts is currently the Chairman for American Guild of Organists Regional Competitions, where she has also served as Dean and State Chairman of the Salt Lake Chapter. She has also taught at the Summer Workshop on Church Music at Brigham Young University for over 20 years.
As a Tabernacle organist, she often performs 30-minute daily organ recitals in the Tabernacle and Conference Center. She has also given organ recitals throughout the United States and Canada as well as international venues such as Vienna and Jerusalem. In addition, she teaches music theory for the 16-week Mormon Tabernacle Choir training school, which is held every winter.
