Berkeley, CA added to 2018 Classic Coast Tour!

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square are pleased to announce the addition of a concert in Berkeley, California, on Saturday, June 23, 2018. This brings the total to six different cities on their 2018 Classic Coast Tour, which will take them to California, Washington, and Vancouver, Canada. The tour begins on Monday, June 18, and will conclude 16 days later on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

It has been over 100 years since the Choir last performed in the city of Berkeley. Their first visit was in 1902 as part of the California Tour that also included stops in San Francisco, Sacramento, Palo Alto, and Monterey. The 2018 performance will be in the renowned William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre on the campus of UC Berkeley located in the foothills overlooking the San Francisco Bay.

This will be one of two Bay Area stops on this tour. The Choir previously announced a performance at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, on Monday, June 25, at 8:00 p.m. See below for information on tickets at both venues.

Music for the Classic Coast Tour concerts will be from the Choir’s vast repertoire, which ranges from choral masterworks to inspirational music from around the world to American folk hymns and spirituals and much more. “When we experience great music in great spaces,” Choir music director Mack Wilberg said, “it makes for a great experience—not only for the audience, but for the performer as well.” This will be an incredible musical experience for everyone.

Ron Jarrett, president of the Choir, said, “There is nothing quite like hearing the Choir and Orchestra live in concert and experiencing their signature all-encompassing sound. We love going on the road to connect with our audiences and seeing firsthand the pure joy music can bring to the hearts and minds of our fans.”

EVENTS ON TEMPLE SQUARE DURING TOUR

Since many visitors will come to Temple Square unaware that the Choir and Orchestra will be on tour, substitute events are planned during their absence. Check our website for specific details.
