Five Brilliant Arrangements by Ryan Murphy

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s associate director, Ryan Murphy, has arranged many of the songs that have been performed by the Choir throughout recent years. His arrangements cover a variety of styles from children’s music to Broadway to sacred hymns.

Below are five videos of some of the impressive arrangements Ryan Murphy has created.

I Am a Child of God

This gentle arrangement captures the innocence of childhood while showcasing Murphy's command of orchestration and harmony. As many times as you may have heard “I Am A Child of God,” you’ve never heard it performed quite like this.

Hold On, from The Secret Garden

In this excerpt from the 2013 Pioneer Day concert, the Choir and Orchestra perform “Hold On” from 1991 Broadway musical The Secret Garden. Murphy’s rendition is a joyful portrayal of the song, which ends in a triumphant finale.

Give, Said the Little Stream

From the children’s album Teach Me to Walk in the Light, “‘Give,' Said the Little Stream” is a lively arrangement of the classic children’s song. This beautiful video shows select Choir members in their everyday environments and even shows Ryan Murphy’s childlike side as he jumps at the two-minute mark.

Brightly Beams Our Father’s Mercy

Included as a men’s choir piece in the hymnbook for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this hymn is fittingly included on the album Men of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

One Person, from Dear World

This upbeat song from the Broadway musical Dear World has a beautiful message that just one person can change the world.
