Mormon Tabernacle Choir President Ron Jarrett used these words when announcing the Choir’s Summer 2016 tour to Europe: “We are thrilled that for the first time in nearly two decades, international audiences will be able to enjoy the music of the Choir in person.” Tour dates extend from June 27 to July 16, 2016 with concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands. (Tickets for these concerts are still available.)

Adjustments have been made to the regular schedule of rehearsals and broadcasts in Salt Lake City during June and July.  Special events have been scheduled for those whose summer travel plans include a visit to Temple Square when the Choir and Orchestra are out of town. 

June 23 (Thursday) | Pre-Tour Concert

Before leaving on tour, the Choir and Orchestra will present a concert of tour repertoire for family and friends on Thursday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Doors open at 7:15 p.m.; tickets are not required. This concert will replace the regular public Thursday night rehearsal of the Choir and Orchestra.
 

July 3, 10, 17 (Sundays) |Music & the Spoken Word Live Broadcasts

Live performance broadcasts will not be given on these dates. Instead, at 9:15 a.m. one of the regular Sunday morning hosts will welcome those who come to Temple Square.  A short organ recital (approximately ten minutes) will be performed, and at 9:30 a.m. the pre-recorded Music & the Spoken Word broadcast airing on KSL-TV and the CBS Radio Network will be shown on screens in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.  Live performance broadcasts will resume on Sunday, July 24.
 

June 30 and July 7, 14 (Thursdays) | Mormon Tabernacle Choir Public Rehearsals

Although the Choir and Orchestra will not be rehearsing these three Thursdays, the public is invited to visit the Temple Square at 7:30 p.m. for a short organ recital and two Music & the Spoken Word recorded programs which will be shown on screens in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.  Regular Thursday night public rehearsals will resume on Thursday, July 21, when the Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will be rehearsing for the Pioneer Day concert in the Conference Center.
 

June 15, 22, 29 and July 6,13, 20 (Wednesdays) | Bells on Temple Square Public Rehearsals

There will be no public rehearsals for the Bells on Temple Square from June 15 to July 20. Regular Wednesday night public rehearsals will resume on Wednesday, July 27.
 

July 22 and 23, 2016 (Friday, Saturday) | Pioneer Day Concert

As previously announced, the Choir and Orchestra will present a Pioneer Day concert on Friday and Saturday, July 22 and 23.  Special guests for this concert will be announced in early June. Tickets will be required but are free, and will be available immediately following the guest artist announcement.
