Victor Hugo first published his novel Les Miserables in 1862. Since then, the novel has been adapted for several forms of media including movies, television shows, plays, books, and more. According to various sources, most critics gave the book negative reviews. However, despite the poor critical reactions, the book was a commercial success as soon as it left the printing press.

The song "Bring Him Home" is from the musical theater adaptation of Les Miserables and is performed by the actor playing Jean Valjean. Alfie Boe played Valjean in 2010 while performing in London. Above, Boe performs the song with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during the 2012 Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert.
