Christmas with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square

2018 Christmas Concert Dates:
The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square with the Bells on Temple Square will perform their annual Christmas concerts in the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 13–15, 2018, at 8:00 p.m. Admission is open to those eight years and older. Patrons should plan to arrive early to the Conference Center to be in their seats at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert.
Acclaimed Actress and Singer Kristin Chenoweth to Be Featured Guest
Kristin Chenoweth’s career spans stage, film, television, and concerts. She won a 2009 Emmy® Award for Best Supporting Actress in in a Comedy Series for her role in Pushing Daisies and was nominated for two Emmys and a People’s Choice Award for her role in Glee. In 1999 she won a Tony® Award for You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and was nominated for her original role of Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked in 2004. The Wicked cast album earned a 2005 Grammy Award. Other notable roles include appearances in The West Wing, Disney's Descendants and The Muppets. Chenoweth recently starred in the second season of NBC's hit comedy series Trial and Error, and received critical acclaim for her performance as Heiress Lavinia Peck-Foster. Chenoweth also returned to the stage in her limited engagement, My Love Letter to Broadway, receiving rave reviews.
Chenoweth is a classically trained coloratura soprano with a master’s degree in opera performance from Oklahoma City University. As a soloist, she has performed to sold-out audiences across the world, including performances at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. Chenoweth is one of only three musical theater stars who have performed a solo concert at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She released her first album, Let Yourself Go, in 2001. Her album of American songbook classics, The Art of Elegance in 2016, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Current Jazz and Traditional Jazz charts and #1 on Amazon’s Vocal Pop chart. Kristin is currently working on her next album, set for release in 2019.
In Case You Don't Get Tickets, Try the Standby Line
Ticket requests for the concerts continue to increase each year. Patrons without tickets should consider waiting in the standby line, which will form at the north gate of Temple Square on each night of the concerts. Patrons in this line will be seated in the Tabernacle and taken to the Conference Center to fill empty seats as they are available. Standbys are often able to be seated in the Conference Center, but if not, the concert will be screened live on the big screens in the Tabernacle.

Tradition of Christmas Concerts
Tabernacle Choir Christmas concerts have been a tradition that dates back decades. Beginning in 2000, the annual concerts moved to the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, where the Choir, the Orchestra at Temple Square, and Bells on Temple Square have hosted a diverse roster of world-class talent. PBS and BYUtv Special Christmas Broadcasts
Since 2004, the Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir PBS Christmas broadcasts—recorded over three nights and broadcast one year later—have become a beloved PBS tradition. For 12 years, it has been the #1 holiday program on PBS. Beginning in 2017, BYUtv—the groundbreaking HD cable TV network—joined with the Choir to produce the broadcast specials. With partner station WGBH—the largest creator of PBS content for TV and the web—the PBS 60-minute version of the concert will air the following year on PBS stations nationwide. A full 90-minue version of the concert will air on BYUtv during the holiday season.
