Description

President Ronald Reagan called them America's Choir. Rightly so. Well-loved and well- regarded, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir holds a singular place in the hearts and souls of listeners. Everywhere.

The selections in this recording bring together favorite songs, hymns, and anthems from the Choir's repertoire that reach into the soul and stir the hearts of people everywhere. When the Choir sings, “Happy day, all is well,” from “Come, Come Ye Saints,” they give voice to the hope and faith of those across the centuries who have faced hardship and triumphed at great cost. When they sing, “O Danny Boy, I love you so,” they evoke the memory of enduring love. Other songs and anthems in this collection speak of the many facets of life: “Cindy” is a rousing folk song; “O Home Beloved,” a plaintive remembrance; “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing,” a stirring tribute to the grace of God, “Climb Ev'ry Mountain,” the reach for dreams yet unrealized, “Battle Hymn of the Republic” the anthem that made the Choir famous. These are the words that stay with us, the music that leaves us humming, the thoughts that lift us, and the inspiration that we seek.

America's Choir sings to the people. Three hundred sixty voices strong joined by their one hundred ten instrumental colleagues, all volunteers on a mission to hold fast to God and his goodness, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square bring a spirit to music never to be forgotten. As always in closing they petition, their voices and instruments raised as one, “God Be with You Till We Meet Again.” ...Heidi S. Swinton
