The Bells at Temple Square is excited to announce that they will be participating in this year’s Utah Spring Ring. Held at Lehi Junior High School on Saturday, March 9, 2024, the Utah Spring Ring is an annual all-day competition and festival that culminates in a free concert to the public in the evening.
What Is It?
- The Spring Ring is Utah’s state handbell festival, held annually on the second Saturday in March.
- A nationally recognized clinician conducts the rehearsals and provides insights on musicianship and handbell techniques to take participants’ ringing to the next level.
- The culmination of the festival is a free concert at 5:00 p.m., open to the public.
When the formation of a the Temple Square bell choir was announced in February 2005, 28 musicians were selected to be the charter members of Bells at Temple Square. Like the members of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, Orchestra at Temple Square, and Chorale at Temple Square, the members of Bells at Temple Square are all volunteers.
Today, the Bells at Temple Square, a hand-bell choir of 32 musicians, enhances the concerts and recordings of The Tabernacle Choir and performs two hand-bell concerts in the Tabernacle each year.
LeAnna Willmore conducts the hand-bell choir and is assisted by associate conductor Geoff Anderson.
