The Bells at Temple Square will present their concert Ring, Rejoice, Rise June 12, 2026, at the historic Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. MDT. Under the direction of Conductor Geoff Anderson and Associate Conductor Mat Ulmer, the 32-member handbell choir will present an inspiring evening of music, performed on two 7-octave sets of English handbells and handchimes.
The program features the beloved God of Our Fathers alongside Sousa’s stirring march Semper Fidelis, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Themes of light, wonder, and the heavens shine through Fred Gramann’s Everlasting Light and Jason Krug’s Escape Velocity and Pale Blue Dot. Rounding out the evening will be jazz standards Take the ‘A’ Train and Fly Me to the Moon and the effervescent São Paulo by Elizabeth Peters. One highlight not to be missed will be the ever-reaching Determination by Alex Guebert with its themes of courage and strength. Solos by Tabernacle Organists Linda Margetts and Joseph Peeples will also be featured on the famed organ. This is a night that you will not want to miss.
Tickets for the concert are free but are required for entry. They can be obtained by going to mpv.tickets.com or the Tabernacle Choir website, thetabernaclechoir.org, on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is open to those eight years of age and older. It is recommended that tickets be obtained early as this event tends to sell out quickly.
About the Bells at Temple Square
In March 2005, a new sound was added to that musical tradition with the creation of Bells at Temple Square, organized as part of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square organization. Like the members of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, Orchestra at Temple Square, and Temple Square Chorale, the members of Bells at Temple Square are all volunteers. Today, over 20 years later, the Bells at Temple Square boast a handbell choir of 32 musicians and perform two formal concerts held semi-annually. They are considered a premier handbell choir, earning nationwide recognition including being featured at Handbell Musicians of America conferences. They enhance the concerts and recordings of The Tabernacle Choir including the annual Christmas Concert.
