Songs of Hope World Tour

Mexico City

June 13–19, 2023 · Auditorio Nacional. The first stop on a tour built around a simple idea — that music can carry hope further than a concert hall can hold.

A concert that reached far beyond the hall

The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square opened the Songs of Hope world tour in Mexico City with six days of music, service and friendship. Near-capacity audiences filled the 10,000-seat Auditorio Nacional across two evenings, and hundreds waited for hours in the summer sun before the gates opened.

The tour marks a deliberate change in how the Choir travels. Rather than moving from city to city, the Choir now settles in one place and lets technology carry the music outward — a shorter visit, more often, reaching further.

That approach showed immediately. Saturday’s concert was streamed on the Choir’s English and Spanish channels, and more than 250 gatherings were organized across Mexico so that people far from the capital could share the evening together.

The program spanned seventeen songs and three encores, sung in Spanish, English, Ladino and Yorùbá. The night belonged to the audience during “Cielito Lindo”, when nearly ten thousand voices joined the chorus.

We were embraced by Mexico and I believe Mexico felt embraced by us.
