Classical 89 is pleased to present Organ Fest XVII in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.

Now in its seventeenth year, the concert brings together organists from the Salt Lake Tabernacle — Richard Elliott, Andrew Unsworth, Brian Mathias, Linda Margetts and Joseph Peeples — with Julian Petrallia, associate organist at The Cathedral of the Madeleine. Luke Howard, associate professor of music history at Brigham Young University, hosts the evening.

The evening ranges from Elsa Barraine’s Prelude and Fugue and Debussy’s lively Danse to the quiet beauty of Elgar’s Nimrod and the grandeur of Mussorgsky’s The Great Gate of Kiev, with further music by Cundick, Bach, Stanford and Whitlock — all heard on the Tabernacle’s historic pipe organ in the hall’s renowned acoustics.

Admission is free and open to the public. The concert is suited to ages 8 and older.

Guests may enter Temple Square through the North, South or West gates. Please plan your travel and parking before you come — the Church publishes guidelines for visiting Temple Square.

After the concert, greet the organists and the Classical 89 staff outside the Tabernacle.

Organ Fest XVII is a gift to the community from Classical 89, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Cathedral of the Madeleine, and the participating organists.
