The Bells at Temple Square Present: A Festive Journey

Friday, June 13: 7:30–9:00 p.m.
Location: Tabernacle, Temple Square
Join The Bells at Temple Square for a special celebration concert, A Festive Journey , on June 13, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in the Historic Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. This performance marks a significant milestone—the 20th anniversary of the ensemble, which began its musical journey in March 2005.

Under the direction of conductor Geoff Anderson, the 32-member handbell choir will present an inspiring evening of music, performed on two 7-octave sets of English handbells and handchimes.

The concert will spotlight pieces performed in the choir’s very first concert, including This is the Christ , Canticle , and Anitra’s Dance , honoring the group’s beginnings. The program will also include hymn arrangements such as Be Still My Soul , Festive Toccata on Old Hundredth , and Softly and Tenderly . The program will feature the beautiful Lumen Fidei (The Light of Faith) , the dramatic Tempest , and the rhythmically engaging Dorian Dance as well as lighter and jazz-inspired fare with Girl from Ipanema and Someone to Watch Over Me . Opening and closing the concert will be contemporary favorites Novus and Shock Wave.

In addition to the handbell performances, the concert will feature guest musicians from the Orchestra at Temple Square as well as musical numbers by Temple Square Organists Joseph Peeples and Linda Margetts, at the famed Tabernacle organ.

Celebrate two decades of musical artistry and inspiration with The Bells at Temple Square.

About the Bells at Temple Square

In March 2005, a new sound was added to that musical tradition with the creation of Bells at Temple Square, organized as a part of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square organization. Like the members of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, Orchestra at Temple Square, and Temple Square Chorale, the members of Bells at Temple Square are all volunteers. Today, 20 years later, the Bells at Temple Square boast a handbell choir of 32 musicians and perform two concerts held semiannually. They are considered a premier handbell choir earning nationwide recognition including being featured at Handbell Musicians of America conferences. They enhance the concerts and recordings of The Tabernacle Choir including the annual Christmas Concert.
