Can I attend a Tabernacle Choir rehearsal, and is it free?
Yes. The Choir rehearses Thursday evenings, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and the public is welcome. No ticket or reservation is currently required and there is no charge. Doors open at 7:30 and music begins immediately, because the Choir has already warmed up.
A rehearsal is a working session. Expect stopping and starting as passages are refined, though several numbers are sung straight through. Many visitors find it more revealing than a finished performance.
You are free to come and go. Most people do not stay the full two hours, which makes a rehearsal practical if you have a packed itinerary or young children.
Rehearsals have never had to turn anyone away for lack of space. There is currently no security screening, and children of any age are welcome in the hall itself.
Some Thursdays are closed to the public — tour weeks, holidays and the Christmas season among them. Check the rehearsal page before travelling; exceptions to the normal schedule are posted there.
