Do Tabernacle Choir members get paid?

No. All roughly 400 singers are unpaid volunteers. Members cover only their own transport to Temple Square; the Church pays for everything else, including tour travel, clothing and meals. Nobody is out of pocket to perform or to tour internationally.

The real cost of membership is time rather than money — a weekly rehearsal, a Sunday broadcast, plus touring and the Christmas season.

Because the roster is larger than the loft, members can miss occasionally without affecting a performance.
