Android App Puts Choir at Your Fingertips
Android users — the app is here! That means Mormon Tabernacle Choir music at your fingertips.
On May 6, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir introduced its app for Android users. With this version of the Choir app in place, anybody, anywhere, on any Android mobile device, can access Choir music, blogs, news and even shop for albums. Just weeks ago, the Choir released an app for iOS users which began a landslide of mobile device users.
The Choir, through its mormontabernaclechoir.org website, blogs, tweets, as well as posts to Instagram and Pinterest, has become tech savvy and in the process, is reaching a much broader and younger audience. “We want listeners worldwide to have access to the Choir and its music,” Scott Barrick, general manager explains. “That is happening. We have a concentrated fan base in the United States but we are seeing significant connections as far away as the Philippines and Peru.”
The app distills content from the Choir’s website into what is most significant to mobile users including the Choir’s 24/7 music stream powered by the Mormon Channel, the Sacred Music Library, the latest news, feature stories, and blog. Choir CDs, digital music albums, books, and DVDs can be purchased from the new app.
Is the Choir done with these innovations? No. Downloadable mp3s of the Choir’s music from store.lds.org is the next big release. Choir Notes will keep you posted.
