The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square invite the public to join them for free weekly public Thursday rehearsals and the Sunday Music & the Spoken Word broadcasts in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. The Bells on Temple Square also offer free Wednesday night public rehearsals. During the summer months and in December the Choir and Orchestra move their rehearsals and performances to the Conference Center to accommodate larger audiences.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will be heading west for their 2018 Classic Coast Tour from June 18 to July 3, 2018. (Tickets are available for some of the tour locations now!) While they are away, adjustments have been made to the regular schedule of rehearsals and broadcasts in Salt Lake City. Since bells are used by the Choir on tour, rehearsals for the Bells on Temple Square are also impacted by the tour. See specifics below:

Pre-Tour Concert on Thursday, June 14, 2018: no tickets required

Before leaving on tour, the Choir and Orchestra will present a concert of tour repertoire for family, friends, and the public on Thursday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Doors open at 7:15 p.m.; tickets are not required. This concert will replace the regular public Thursday night rehearsal of the Choir and Orchestra.

Music & the Spoken Word Broadcast Alternatives
Sunday, June 24 and Sunday, July 1, 2018 

Live performance broadcasts will not be held on these dates. Instead, at 9:15 a.m. one of the Choir’s Sunday morning hosts will welcome those who come to Temple Square. A short organ recital (approximately 10 minutes) will be performed, and at 9:30 a.m. the prerecorded Music & the Spoken Word broadcast for that day will be shown on screens in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Live performance broadcasts will resume on Sunday, July 8, in the Conference Center.

Mormon Tabernacle Choir Public Rehearsal Alternatives
Thursday, June 21 and Thursday, June 28, 2018

Although the Choir and Orchestra will not be in Salt Lake City these two Thursdays, the public is invited to come to Temple Square at 7:30 p.m. for a short organ recital and two Music & the Spoken Word prerecorded episodes, which will be shown on screens in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Regular Thursday night public rehearsals will resume on Thursday, July 5, in the Conference Center when the Choir and Orchestra return.

Bells on Temple Square Public Rehearsals Cancellations
Wednesdays, June 13, 20, 27 and July 4, 2018

There will be no public rehearsals for the Bells on Temple Square from June 13 through July 4. Regular Wednesday night public rehearsals will resume in the Tabernacle on Wednesday, July 11.

Remember the Pioneer Day Concert on July 20 and 21, 2018!

The Choir and Orchestra will present a Pioneer Day concert on Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21, in the Conference Center. Special guests for this concert will be announced later. Tickets will be required but are free and will be available following the guest artist announcement. Please check on the Events & Tickets calendar closer to the event date for updates.
