“Where You Are” from Moana featuring Alex Boyé Hits 1 Million Views

Make way in the million view club for another video with Alex Boyé and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. “Where You Are” from Disney’s Moana, has just surpassed its first big milestone of 1 million YouTube video views.

Last summer, Boyé filled in at the last minute for former Hamilton actor Christopher Jackson for the 2017 Pioneer Day concerts. Although he had big shoes to fill, Boyé gracefully stepped in and delivered an amazing concert, packed with songs such as Boyé’s own “Heart of Lion,” a Nat King Cole Medley, two songs from The Lion King, including “He Lives in You,” and “Circle of Life,” which also just reached 1 million views, and of course “Where You Are,” from Moana.

Spoiler Alert: In the movie Moana the song “Where You Are” occurs when Moana finds out she is expected to become the chief of her village when she grows up. It is sung by her father, Chief Tui, who tries to convince Moana that all the happiness she needs is right where she is in the village. The song was originally intended to be included in the concerts for Jackson, who was the uncredited singing voice of Chief Tui in Moana.

Boyé’s energetic version of “Where You Are” was a hit with audiences, and was the first song performed during each of the Pioneer Day concerts. Watch, share, and watch again ;-)
