My husband unexpectedly went blind at 25 and one year later our 2-year-old was in an accident that left him with a severe brain injury. In those experiences, everything about my life and the life I had dreamed about was shattered! I felt so alone in our circumstances as no one I knew could relate or comprehend the demands and heavy grief that were suddenly heaped on my shoulders.
In my darkest hour, my mother-in-law gave me a CD filled with songs about Jesus and healing. As I listened to that music, the words of those songs pierced my soul and put words to the heartache and pain that I was experiencing all while breathing hope and life back into my heart. They reminded me, in the most beautiful and powerful way, that I was not alone - that there really was one who walked this broken path before me and that He knew exactly how to rescue me!
Since then, music has ALWAYS played a powerful role in my worship. It has a beautiful way of reflecting the feelings of my heart and testifying of truth. Most days when I want to feel closer and connected to my Savior Jesus Christ, I turn on music that speaks of Him and beautiful peace and light that seems to take over, regardless of what is happening around me.
